Communication in an emergency situation
  • Exact instruction
  • Speak directly to the person
  • Distribute the task and request feedback: “Resolve the call and let me know when you've done it”
First Aid Scheme
  • Approachable
    • yes -> stay with the person, supervise further steps
    • No -> Does the person breathe
      • Yes = not available with normal breathing -> stable lateral position, emergency call, monitoring
      • No = Not available with missing or abnormal breathing -> Make an emergency call, chest compressions and ventilation, use AED if available
        • Adults 30x massage, 2x respiration
        • Children 5x ventilate, 15x massage, 2x ventilate, etc.
        • Until emergency services arrive then handed over without interruption
