Through its accreditation as a C2 training centre, the ONO Group commits itself not only to the SIWF (Swiss Institute for Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education) but above all to its staff and patients to take responsibility for postgraduate and continuing education at the highest level. This is coordinated for the ONO Group by the head of the training centre Augenklinik ONO Wallisellen (Dr. med. Valéry Vinzent Wittwer) in collaboration with the management of the Clinique de l'Oeil Petit-Lancy (Geneva).
Specialists receive approximately 30 CME credits for documented participation in ONO CME, creditable as structured continuing education under the continuing education programme of the SOG.
For residents and senior physicians, attending and contributing to the postgraduate and continuing education events is part of their training programme and is therefore mandatory.
In the interest of science and to reflect the multilingual nature of our country, these events are held in English.
About 50% of the meetings are held online via Zoom and about 50% on site (links and locations see below).
Topics such as ophthalmological clinical pictures, presented by internal and external experts. These events are recognised by the SIWF as structured continuing education (see Continuing Education FMH). The topics are set in advance and published online (see education calendar).
Interactive discussion of clinical cases (conservative and surgical). Part of the training programme for the FMH specialist title in ophthalmology and the subspecialty ophthalmic surgery, and therefore mandatory for all physicians in training.
Interactive discussion of clinically relevant articles from renowned journals.

The events “ONO CME” and “ONO Fellows Forum” are coordinated by the head of training, Dr Wittwer.

In the middle of the year, the speakers (all physicians of the ONO Group) are contacted and asked to choose a topic and a date for their presentation. These are entered in the calendar by the head of training (see link: Education calendar 2026).
After a deadline communicated in advance, dates and topics are assigned to the speakers by the training management. After that, speakers must swap dates and topics among themselves and inform the head of training so that the calendar can be updated accordingly.
